Great food made from local produce. They have their own chickens and a superb outdoors area with playground for kids. This place is a gem and therefore very popular. Book or go early!
The Hive Beach Cafe (Burton Bradstock)
Best Fish Restaurant in Dorset. Super popular, so go early! Right by the sea. Wonderful views. On a sunny day there is no better place to be! Also selling delicious ice-creams.
Watchhouse Cafe (West Bay)
Remember Broadchurch?…. Right by the beach. A wonderful Cafe/Restaurant with outdoors seating. Popular with walkers in the morning and the rest of Dorset for lunch and dinner. They also make yummy pizzas.
The Seaside Boarding House (Burton Bradstock)
Now, this is an absolute gem. With an amazing location, moreish cocktails and delicious food this is a real treat. Best enjoyed in style and without the kids… Ahhhhhhh. Nearly forgot; they recently started serving afternoon tea from 3:00-5:00, best book in advance!
Symondsbury Estate (Symondsbury)
Buy local produce in the farm shop, local pottery, antiques or flowers and enjoy a yummy lunch made from local produce. Or pop in for coffee/tea and one of their homemade cakes and grab the sofa seat next to the wood burner… wonderful.
Bridport Leisure Centre (Bridport Centre)
Rainy day? Take the kids swimming at the local leisure centre. It’s two pools are decent sized and there always seems an army of lifeguards. Also check their website for special kids activities during half terms!
Weymouth Sea Life Adventure Park
Loads to do here! We once went on a rainy day and still had a fun day out.
Abbotsbury Swannery/Children’s Farm/Subtropical Gardens (Abbotsbury)
You can visit either one of the above or buy a ticket which includes all three. Again, loads to do, see, explore and learn here. The children’s farm has an indoors soft play area and in the summer there is great playing on the hay stacks outside. You can spend a day here as there also is a little family friendly restaurant. Our kids loved it! If you have time take a stroll through Abbotsbury. It’s very pretty and has lots of little independent restaurants and cafes to choose from.
If you or/and your kids are into fossils and everything pre-historic then Charmouth is your place! Park the car by the beach and explore not only the beach but also the amazing and best ever Fossil shop. Go upstairs and have a look at their latest displays. There also are lovely souvenirs and kids books for sale. And of course; lots and lots of Fossils! There also is a small cafe.
Birdlike Riding Stables (Bridport)
Take the kids horse riding. Book in advance!

They also usually sell the most amazing wood works which make great gifts especially for kids! Whilst you are there have a look at their animals. Warning – Best to wear Wellies!
